When assembling boxes, use Scotch® Packaging Tape to seal the seam on the bottom, then place another piece of tape perpendicular to the seam for extra stability and support. When packing up boxes, it's best to fill them completely to help keep them from collapsing.
Pack heavy items in smaller boxes to avoid back strain, and pack lighter items in larger boxes.
Start prepping for your move early. Assemble Scotch™ Moving Boxes and place them around your home. They'll help remind you to pack a little bit every day. Designate one box as a donation box — use this time to determine what you really need to keep.
Use Decorative Scotch® Packaging Tapes to add some color to your move. Assign each family member or each room in your new home a different color or design, and label each box accordingly.
Consider packing a few “Open Me First” boxes. Include in them familiar items that will make everyone feel at home right away, as well as items that you use on a daily basis. If you find yourself a little tired after a fun first day in your new home, you won't have to do any digging for those everyday essentials.
Make sure all valuables are securely wrapped with Scotch™ Cushion Wrap. If you can feel the item through the wrap, it still needs more protection. The ink from newsprint can transfer onto delicate materials, so use caution if you incorporate it in your packing.
Label each side of boxes, so no matter which direction they turn you'll know what's inside. Also be sure to label fragile boxes as such — an arrow indicating which way should face up is helpful, too.
Unpacking can be a breeze when tools, cleaning supplies, extension cords and surge protectors are easy to find. Fill a Scotch™ Moving Box with these essential items and make it the last box you place into the moving truck, so it'll be the first you unpack.
Movin' up and out.
