Storage Tips

1. Don't use old newspaper when wrapping delicate items - the ink can transfer to the items you're wrapping and possibly leaves stains or cause damage. Instead, use Scotch™ Cushion Wrap around fragile items, making sure there's ample clearance between all items and between items and the box side and corners.
2. Take a detailed inventory of what you're placing in each box, and tape a copy of this list to the outside of the box. This will be helpful when you need to find items, and can also help you determine how to organize your boxes in your basement, attic, garage or storage space.
3. If you're packing up a number of boxes for storage, use Scotch™ Storage Boxes that are consistent in size, as long as they fit your items appropriately. They can help create a neat storage space that will allow you to quickly and easily identify what you need when you need it.

6. Clearly label boxes with fragile items and indicate which side of the box should face up. These delicate boxes should always be placed on top of other heavier boxes.
7. Certain things should never be placed into storage. Flammable items like paint, paint thinners, kerosene, oil, explosives, cleaning liquids and aerosol cans can all pose a hazard should the temperature in a storage area rise too high. Contact a local government agency to find out how to properly dispose of these items.
