String, yarn, or twine
Two thin wooden dowels
Two Mason Jars
This bunting centerpiece is a great way to welcome guests for an ice cream social or birthday celebration. Use different patterns and colors of Expressions Masking Tape* and Expressions Washi Tape* to create a variety of flags for the bunting.
Measure enough string, yarn or twine to create the desired amount of bunting for a centerpiece. Cut appropriate lengths. To create a draping effect, make your first strand the longest and cut each subsequent strand slightly shorter than the last.
Lay the string on a flat surface and tape down each end.
Cut strips of Expressions Washi Tape and Expressions Masking Tape. Fold the strips in half over the string, so the adhesive can be pressed together. Continue along the length of string.
Snip a small triangle out of the bottom of each piece of tape to create flags. Repeat for additional bunting strands.
To secure your bunting centerpiece, fill the Mason jars with a vase filler. We used clear vase gems. Place one wooden dowel into each Mason jar.
Starting with the longest bunting strand, tie each end of the string onto the wooden dowels. Continue tying additional string above it, from longest to shortest. The shortest strand should be on top. When you place the centerpiece, adjust the spacing between the Mason jars until you have the desired amount of curve in the bunting.
EXPERT TIP: Make the bunting in bulk to decorate a large surface, such as a table, wall or doorway.
